Diploma in Relational Supervision

New Road Psychotherapy Centre, Brighton October 2017

This programme is based on contemporary ideas and approaches in Relational Supervision.  Key texts are:-

  • The Art of Relational Supervision edited by Helena Hargaden
  • The Supervisory Relationship: A Contemporary Psychodynamic Approach, by Frawley O’Dea and Sarnat:
  • Supervision in the Helping Professions, Hawkins and Shohet

We will draw on relational concepts of mutuality, reciprocity, the bi directionality of the relational unconscious, theories of ‘the third’, and engagement with plurality of meaning. The course is structured to translate these ideas into the practice of relational supervision.

Cost - £1600

Dates - 12 workshop days & 4 seminar/supervision days:

  • 21-22 October 2017;
  • 16-17 December 2017
  • 17-18 February 2018;
  • 21-22  April 2018;
  • 16-17  May 2018;
  • 21-22 July 2018

  • 18 November 2017,
  • 20 January 2018,
  • 17 March 2018,
  • 12 May 2018

Major themes of authority, power, client protection, ethical practice, use of the imagination, ruptures and enactments, will be explored through a mixture of didactic teaching, experiential learning, and practical application.

Our underlying philosophical position is that as therapists and supervisors we need to work from the inside out.
