Renate Kristoffersson

Renate works within a Humanistic foundation and on a client-led basis. She is a fully qualified person-centred counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures the provision of a secure, reliable and confidential relational environment. As a working practitioner and a BACP member she practices within their ethical framework and remains committed to my on-going personal and professional development.

With a focus on supporting clients through transitional stages in life, recognising the struggle but also the potential in personal growth, I wish to encourage your own process with respect for your values, beliefs and choices.

Working on a client-led basis I believe the unique client-therapist working relationship is the key to a positive experience where the collaborative work offers insight and deeper understanding of our true needs and desires. I will help you become more aware  of unhelpful patterns in your life and support you in the process of change that can sometimes feel very challenging and lonely.

The work aims to support you in developing an understanding of what makes you the person you are and how you respond to life, relationships and yourself. It encourages a more self-supportive view of your own unique being through self-examination in an honest and trusting dialogue.

I have experience in working with people from all walks of life, supporting them through bereavement, terminal illness, addiction and relationship-issues, depression and anxiety, and any many other presenting issues.

The work is often on a long-term, on-going basis where a regular assessment of needs and on-going progress is the guide to how long the process will take. It may however be your preference to commit to a shorter term-plan, and I will always endeavour to offer the client what they feel they need,  in terms of the duration of the working agreement and the pace of the therapy.

The important and perhaps the most difficult decision is to take that first step on the road to self-discovery and find a therapist that suits you, and I believe this is best done through a meeting in person, so please feel free to contact me for an initial, no obligation, appointment to find out if you would like to work with me.
