Humanistic Therapeutic Counsellor
Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to make sense of your current difficulties and make changes for a more fulfilling life.
I offer a warm welcome. My aim is to create a safe therapeutic space where you will feel comfortable to talk about your worries. My approach is to offer compassion, empathy and a non-judgemental warmth to enable a trusting relationship to develop between us. The therapeutic relationship that develops between a client and their therapist is crucial to a client's progress. It is therefore very important that you choose a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable.
I will invite you to explore what is troubling you, and together we will make sense of your experiences. The therapeutic process can enable a client to talk about issues and feelings that they may usually hide from family and friends.
Counselling can mean exploring the past as well as the present, with curiosity, to bring a sense of clarity and help you to gently figure out what your options are at this point in your life.
I work from a person-centred-existential perspective. I am also informed by attachment theory and developments in neuroscientific research. My approach looks at how we are in the world in the here-and-now, and at how our childhood experiences have influenced established behaviour patterns that are no longer helpful to us as adults. My practice recognises and explores the way we are affected by the world depending on the unique interplay of our gender, sexuality, ethnicity, 'race', age, class, disability, culture, and religion.
I have a varied counselling practice, which includes:
