About the Course

A thirty-hour course developing essential counselling skills. As well as theoretical concepts, the course will include experiential exercises and practice.

As a result, you will gain skills in active listening, clear communication, and advanced empathy.

In addition to Mindful Awareness, Gestalt and Person-Centered theory and practice will be taught.

Course Content

Each session will be made up of three parts: 

  • The application of theory to practice

  • The practice of mindfulness-based listening & communication

  • Self awareness through self-compassion and investigation

Entry Requirements

You do not need particular qualifications or work experience to attend this course. Personal qualities we are looking for in trainees/attendees include:

  • Openness to forming and maintaining therapeutic relationships with others

  • A  willingness to engage in experiential learning

  • The capacity to reflect on  experience

  • To respect difference and diversity

  • Openness to give and receive feedback from tutors and peers

Qualifications

You will receive a certificate on completing a 750 word essay on what you have learnt from the course and if you have attended a minimum of 80% of the classes.

Rory Singer and Veda Tester BSC

WHO IS IT FOR?
Any individual interested in training as a counsellor or wishing to enhance their relationship skills both personally and professionally will benefit from this course.

THE FACILLITATORS:
Rory has been practicing psychotherapy for over 25 years. He trained at the Gestalt Centre -London and taught 'Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counseling' at Crawley College for over a decade.

He was a Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest Tradition before becoming a psychotherapist. His expertise is in the integration of Psychotherapeutic and Buddhist Theory.

Veda Tester BSC has a busy counselling practice as well as an experienced tutor on a university course. She also has co-facilitated workshops for young women and non-binary folk for a music charity in Brighton.

Veda is an enthusiastic and sensitive facilitator and approaches counselling, theory and practice with passion and creativity
