Helen Findlay - Integrative Counsellor

About me:

As a qualified integrative counsellor, my professional aim is to support individuals in their journey of self-exploration, self-acceptance and growth in self-awareness. I value everyone’s’ unique and individualistic journey in both experience and emotional processing.

As part of my work in therapeutic support, I have a background in providing low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy techniques and interventions as a member of the BABCP, which where beneficial I use within counselling work. I practice in a way whereby the individual and I are on a collaborative journey, with them as the insight to their experiences past, present and future. I aim to provide a non-judgemental, compassionate and confidential space where individuals can explore their needs and experiences away from external societal pressures and stigmas.

I hold the therapeutic relationship at the core of my therapeutic approach, aiming to provide a human-to-human experience of collaboration and exploration. I recognise that trust takes time to develop, which is why I practice in a way where I am led by the individual, working through their exploration with them at their own pace. I practice with a trust that all individuals have the inner resources to meet their needs and questions, with the therapeutic relationship offering a holding of acceptance for one to ignite those resources.
