Group Therapy
What is Group Psychotherapy?
Group psychotherapy is a highly effective, evidence-based approach to long-term support for individuals facing emotional distress and interpersonal challenges. It offers a structured, safe environment where participants communicate with one another to foster understanding and surmount these obstacles. Beyond problem-solving, it serves as a powerful modality for self-exploration and profound personal development.
Why join a Group Psychotherapy?
Group psychotherapy can be beneficial for individuals who encounter challenges in their social and emotional lives.
Some reasons for joining:
To explore familiar patterns in relationships and explore new ways of relating to others
To form meaningful connections with others in the context of previous experiences; being in a group can lessen a sense of isolation
To gain a greater capacity to articulate thoughts and feelings; put words to the experience
To experience oneself through the eyes of others
To take up and try out different roles in a therapy group.
We currently offer both:
Low-Cost Group Therapy: Tuesdays 6 - 7:30pm with Iwona Munia, Trainee Group Analyst. £17 per weekly session
Standard Group Therapy: Wednesdays 6:30pm - 8pm with Sue Griffin, UKCP Registered Group Analyst £32 per weekly session

Enquire or book your Initial Consultation
How it works
Before joining a group you’ll need to book an Initial Consultation (fill in the form for either Low-Cost or Standard, depending on your preference)
This consultation will be with a Group Therapy Practitioner and will be a one-to-one session designed to outline the specific issues you wish to address in the context of group psychotherapy.
You will then continue to have approximately between 2-5 preparatory one-to-one sessions with the Group Therapist you’ll be working with if deemed a likely suitable fit for the group from the initial consultation.* For Low-Cost it’s £15 per session. For Standard, these operate on a flexible scale from £20 to £66 according to your financial circumstances.
Once there is an opening and an appropriate time to join the group sessions you will be invite to start and be required to attend weekly for the 90 minutes.
*PLEASE NOTE: The timeline for these introductory meetings varies, ranging from a few weeks to several months, contingent upon the availability of a suitable opening in an existing group.
This type of therapy is best undertaken over a longer period. Participants get the most out of it by attending for a year or more. Participation for shorter periods is possible, but it may benefit you to commit to a longer duration.
Each group comprises a maximum of eight people of mixed genders.
