Ian Caley - Integrative therapist
About Ian
I am an enthusiastic, genuine and passionate therapist, and will weave many different approaches and theories to help you find a way forward, underpinned with a person-centered philosophy. This gives me the capacity to gently pull threads and enquire, whilst letting you run with where you are right now.
I support my clients through many personal challenges, helping them to find meaning to their behaviours and new solutions to replace the previous maladaptive ones. Usually, my work with clients is longer term, but from the outset, you will find me warm, personable, empathetic and non-judgemental. I’ll be here with you from the start, right through. We’ll tackle this together.
My specialism is in helping clients navigate alcohol or drug difficulties, exploring what being sober might look like, controlling our drinking habits, stopping altogether or getting back up from more extreme consequences, such as relationship break downs, suicidality, and picking up a life after a treatment centre. Of course, all of this can encompass very low mood, anxieties, coping mechanisms, self-esteem, social confidence, the list goes on as you might imagine, which is why my work can often be longer term.
I offer an honest and safe space to talk and share, you’ll find this from the start. My clients often tell me that talking with a therapist who has been there himself made so much difference to their experience, in a positive way of course!
I am a member of the BACP, an Advanced Practitioner with Addiction Professionals, and hold a Masters degree in Addiction Psychology and Counselling. I promote diversity and equality, embrace neurodiversity, and value each of my clients as an individual with their own goals and uniqueness.
