Louise Cotton - Dip. Couns. Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (TA)

Louise is a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and trained in Transactional Analysis at the Connexus Institute in Hove, where she achieved her Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling in July 2026. She was drawn to TA's accessible concepts and the collaborative relationship it fosters between therapist and client. This approach can give clients transparency into therapeutic methods, enabling them to engage with and explore what resonates with them.

Louise works with adult clients, both in-person and online and is based at New Road Psychotherapy in Hove. Louise's practice is increasingly socially informed. She understands psychological difficulty as shaped not only by early relational experience, but also by societal oppression and cultural messaging. She is interested in helping clients move from feelings of alienation and self-blame towards recognising the wider systems that have impacted them. She continues to develop through ongoing study and reflection and is passionate about empowering individuals to recognise themselves and understand their own minds, leading to greater agency over their lives.

With nearly two decades of experience as a Human Resources practitioner, Louise has a deep understanding of the fast-paced and demanding environments found in industries like technology and advertising. She completed her Masters in Human Resource Management at London South Bank University in 2013 and has a keen interest in the impact that work, systems and organisational cultures can have on an individual's sense of self and identity.

Louise's dedication to personal growth extends beyond her professional endeavours. Known for her pragmatic, empathetic, fun, and honest nature, she has a long-standing interest in yoga. In 2018, she trained as a vinyasa yoga teacher in London. Through yoga, Louise finds balance and harmony, complementing her ongoing HR and therapeutic work and enriching her life.
