Understand what keeps happening between you

Couples therapy gives you space to understand the pattern between you. Rather than blame either person, we look at what happens in the relationship and help you find a different way forward together.

A different kind of conversation

Couples often arrive after having the same argument many times, or after silence has replaced argument altogether. The immediate issue may be trust, sex, parenting, money, family, work, illness, separation or a major life transition. Underneath it is often a cycle in which each person’s attempt to protect themselves leaves the other feeling less safe.

Therapy creates enough space to see that cycle more clearly. The aim is not to decide who is right. It is to understand what happens between you, what each response is trying to protect, and what the relationship needs now.

Active, not passive

Your therapist listens to both of you and also tracks what happens between you in the room. They help slow escalation, notice moments that pass quickly, and keep the conversation usable.

Balanced and boundaried

The therapist works with the relationship rather than treating either person as the problem. They do not act as judge, referee or ally to one person, but make room for difference and name patterns that affect you both.

Frequently asked questions

No. Some couples come during a crisis, while others want to understand recurring patterns, prepare for a transition, improve intimacy or make a good relationship more resilient.

No. The work is not about deciding who is right. The therapist holds the relationship in mind, makes room for both experiences and pays attention to the cycle between you.

That is common. You do not need to arrive with the same explanation or the same level of confidence. The first task is to understand what each of you wants, fears and needs from the process.

Couples sessions are usually held together. Your therapist will explain the frame at the outset and discuss whether any individual meetings would be helpful, including how information from those meetings would be handled.

Yes. Couples therapy is not designed to preserve a relationship at any cost. It can help you understand what is possible, make a more considered decision and, where separation is the outcome, approach it with greater clarity and care.
