Perhaps you feel stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself or from the people around you? Maybe you are struggling to make sense of things that have happened to you, a relationship, a choice you have made, or simply the direction your life is taking. Sometimes we know that something is not right without being clear about what can or needs to change.
About David
I am a humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 10,000 hours of practice. I offer a non-judgemental and inclusive practice and am LGBTQI+ ND affirmative.
I see my role as a confidential companion for a small part of your journey. I provide a space where you can slow down, explore what is happening and make more sense and meaning of things. I believe people have a capacity for growth and change, and that each of us has our own path to cut through the woods.
I work in an experiential, Person-Centred and relational way. You lead on what we talk about and I look after the process. I remain curious about what you are experiencing in the moment, including feelings, thoughts, relationships and the felt sense of what is happening. Sometimes what happens between us in the therapy room can help us understand what is happening in your life outside it.
Our experiences can teach us a great deal, but some experiences can also teach us that we are not okay. We may then develop ways of behaving that protect us but leave us feeling unseen, disconnected or alone. Therapy can help us understand these patterns, reconnect with our own resources and discover more authentic ways of being.
Experience and training
I hold a postgraduate qualification in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton and am a member of BACP. I also have professional training in menopause and the mind, online and telephone counselling, relational depth, BPD, dreams and child protection.
I am experienced in working with neurodiversity, which I perceive as a difference and not a disorder. In my view, the pathologising of individual difference is not okay.
